Strange Fossils in the Year 802 701

My creative response to HG Well’s The Time Traveller involved designing and creating multimedia outdoor art installations. Commissioned by the ACE funded A Town Explores a Book Festival of 2020, the outdoor sculptures made of discarded plastic and plaster were placed in a custom-made garden bed amongst the train platform garden at St Leonards Warrior Square to mimic an archaeological excavation site.

I also designed and illustrated a zine to accompany the sculptures, titled β€˜AnthropoZine’, in collaboration with linguist and musician, Rob King who wrote stories for each strange fossil sculpture.

Welcome to the AnthropoZine!

You are a Victorian scientist. You’ve travelled far into the future on our planet Earth, far beyond our time. What will you find?

It’s the year 802 701 AD. Earth is no longer inhabited by humans and in the ground are remnants left behind from what seems like an alien world. What do you make of these strange fossils? πŸšπŸ¦€πŸ—ΏπŸ—½πŸ”Ž

You are invited to draw and describe these strange fossils from this time, inspired by materials found in your bins.
