Morokoth Fournier des Corats is a British–Cambodian artist based in St Leonards‑on‑Sea. Working across painting, drawing, printmaking and digital collage, she explores the interplay between observation and imagination, tracing themes of nature, solitude, desire and the female figure.
Her current practice centres on painting in thin acrylic washes over dark‑toned wood panels. This process creates a translucent, dreamlike depth, echoing the haziness of memory and the drifting logic of dreams. Figures and natural forms emerge from life drawings, photographs gathered on coastal walks, and moments of quiet attention in gardens. These elements coalesce into serene, contemplative landscapes that function as transitional spaces — places where emotion, memory and imagination overlap.
Her visual language is shaped by the sea, by the legacy of female surrealists, and by the non‑linear sequencing of experimental cinema. Across media, she treats printmaking as a site of play and unpredictability, embracing the surprises and imperfections that arise through process.
Alongside her studio practice, she also undertakes client commissions and interior‑focused design work.
